In 2016, Home Movie Day was on Saturday, October 15th. In France, two events have been organized this year, one in Normandy and the other in Paris.
On October 15th, the Pôle Image Haute-Normandie proposed to the public of the Museum of the History of Daily Life in Petit-Caux, a few kilometers from Dieppe, to discover a series of six portraits of amateur filmmakers from Normandy. Throughout the afternoon, Agnès Deleforge, in charge of the audiovisual memory of Haute-Normandie, presented the films, but also sensitized the public to the importance and fragility of these documents.
Almost two months later, the association L'Inversible organizes for the 5th consecutive year the Home Movie Day in Paris, this time at the heart of the Cinémathèque Française. Activities and screenings follow one another throughout the afternoon on Sunday 11 December 2016. The audience is invited to bring 8 mm, Super 8, 16 mm or 9,5 mm films to the “inspection workshop” starting at 1 pm. The Home Movie Day teams will inspect and prepare them for the "Open Screen" session starting at 3:30 pm. Meanwhile, at 2 pm, the ECPAD, member of the association INEDITS and partner of the HMD of Paris since 2010, gives a representative panorama of its collection of amateur films. Five documents will be screened and commented by Olivier Racine, archivist of this important French institution. Starting at 3.30 pm, the Open Screen session allows everyone to show the film they brought to the “inspection workshop”, and to share memories, impressions and experiences.

Finally, the association L'Inversible hosts an exceptional guest at 8 pm: the Centre national de l'audiovisuel (CNA). Its director, Paul Lesch, and Alessandra Luciano, head of film collections (and treasurer of the association INEDITS), will present amateur films selected from the CNA's marvellous collection of the Luxembourg.
